Okta Verify App as two-factor Authentication

Before you begin

Make sure you have both your mobile phone and computer available before you start. Follow the steps below to set up Okta Verify on your phone.

Download the Okta Verify app

Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) on your mobile and install the Okta Verify app.

 

When do you need to set up Okta Verify?

There are three common scenarios where you need to activate or reactivate Okta Verify:

  1. First-time activation when you start your employment in NorgesGruppen

  2. You already have an active NANO account but haven’t set up Okta Verify yet

  3. You got a new phone and need to set up Okta Verify again

1. First-time setup during onboarding

You will receive an activation link for your NANO account in the Welcome email from NorgesGruppen.

  1. Click the link in the email to start the activation.

  2. You will be prompted to set up two-factor authentication. Choose Okta Verify.

  3. A QR code will appear on your computer screen.

  4. Open the Okta Verify app on your phone, tap the plus (+) icon in the top-right corner, and select Organization.

  5. When asked about adding an account from another device, select Skip.

  6. Tap Yes, ready to scan, then scan the QR code shown on your screen.

  7. Complete the setup in the app, including activating Face ID or passcode if prompted.

  8. Once approved, you will be logged in to NANO.

If you need to log in again later, you can find the correct NANO portal via the Vier portal.

2. Setup after NANO is already activated

If you are using NANO but haven’t set up Okta Verify yet:

  1. Go to your NANO portal and log in. The link is also available via the Vier portal.

  2. Click on the drop-down menu at the top right and go to Settings.

  3. Under Security Methods, click Set up next to Okta Verify.

  4. Follow the instructions to display a QR code in your browser.

  5. Open the Okta Verify app on your phone, tap the plus (+) icon, and select Organization.

  6. Tap Yes, ready to scan, and scan the QR code.

  7. Complete the setup in the app.

3. New phone – reactivating Okta Verify

If you have a new phone and need to set up Okta Verify again:

  1. Log in to your NANO portal on your computer. You can find the link via the Vier portal.

  2. Click on the drop-down menu at the top right and go to Settings.

  3. Under Security Methods, click Set up next to Okta Verify.

  4. Remove the old device from the list if it is still there.

  5. Click Add new device and choose Okta Verify.

  6. A new QR code will appear in your browser.

  7. Open the Okta Verify app, tap the plus (+) icon, select Organization, and scan the QR code.

  8. Complete the setup in the app.

Using Okta Verify after setup

Once you have set up the Okta Verify app on your phone, follow these steps the next time you log in:

  1. Go to your NANO portal and log in with your username and password. If you're unsure which portal to use, find the correct link via the Vier portal.

  2. After logging in, you will be asked to confirm it's you.

  3. Click Select next to Get a push notification.

  4. You will now receive a notification on your phone via the Okta Verify app.

  5. If you see a Send button in your browser, click it to trigger the notification.

  6. Open the app and tap Yes, it's me when the message "Did you just try to sign in?" appears.

  7. After confirming in the app, you will automatically be logged in to NANO.

You are now all set. You will receive a push notification on your phone every time you log in.
